TEEN ADVENTURE TRAVEL

The responsible traveler

The Wild Traveler is committed to demonstrating sustainable travel on our teen adventure trips. Respecting the environments and communities we explore is crucial to our mission.

Buy Locally, Think Globally
The Wild Traveler buys local, organic foods and goods to support the communities we visit and lower our carbon footprint. We strive to reduce our consumption of plastics and imported goods and to heighten our interaction with local peoples.

Reduce Plastic Waste
Plastic waste is an issue throughout the world. Our students engage in meaningful community service projects that raise environmental awareness and provide villages with sustainable methods of disposing of recyclables. We aim to protect the health of ocean communities and embody Leave No Trace principles.

Develop Relationships
We work with local outfitters to provide professional instructors for activities like SCUBA, sailing, and surfing. The Wild Traveler has researched and built relationships with some of the best outfitters in the areas we travel. Our outfitters adopt environmentally friendly practices, protect and support wildlife and cultural heritage sites, and employ local staff.

Support Green Organizations
Our partners back conservation projects in their communities, such as the Pacific Research Foundation and The Waipa Foundation in Hawaii, The Tandana Foundation in Ecuador, and The Juara Turtle Project on Tioman Island in Malaysia. All of our partners provide environmental awareness programs that not only support their specific focus but the surrounding community as well.

Environmental & Cultural Awareness
Every Wild Traveler program works with local communities in an effort to preserve and improve their way of life. Our participants work alongside and actively learn from community members. From conserving turtles on Tioman Island and processing poi in Hawaii to building a community center in Ecuador, Wild Traveler participants help the community while learning about local culture.
