WHAT ARE THE ACCOMMODATIONS LIKE?
For our domestic trips, we camp in some of the most beautiful places – national parks, state beaches, and private campgrounds. We provide high-quality tents for our participants, each housing two to three participants. Participants also have the option each night to sleep on a tarp beneath the stars. All campgrounds have full bathrooms with running water, sinks, showers and flush toilets. For our international trips, we stay in a mix of hotels, youth hostels and beachside resorts. Participants are separated by gender.

ARE THERE SHOWERS?
Yes. Participants will have access to showers almost every day on our trips. All campgrounds, hostels, hotels, and beachside resorts have full bathrooms with running water, sinks, showers and flush toilets.

WHAT DO WE PACK?
The Wild Traveler provides all gear except for your backpack, sleeping bag, sleeping pad and mask and snorkel for our summer trips. Check out your gear and clothing list specific to your trip on our trip pages. Don’t have something from the list? Let us know and we can provide that gear free of charge.

CAN I CALL HOME?
Yes. Our office staff and Wild Traveler trip leaders are available 24 hours per day during our summer session. Parents are welcome to contact their child at anytime by calling our office or trip leaders directly. Our participants are also welcome to contact their parents at any time. We collect all cell phone on arrival day after a call home and return them on departure day before students return home.

DO YOU PUBLISH A TRIP LOG?
Yes. Families love our trip log. Trip leaders update the trip log every two to three days with a write up and pictures of what we’ve done. Family members can follow along with our summer trip as it unfolds.

HOW IS THE FOOD?
Our meals are nutritionally balanced, plentiful, tasty and offer plenty of options. Our participants decide the menu and help prepare most meals. We do our shopping at grocery stores and farmers markets. We’ll also eat out at a few restaurants during our trip and sample local cuisine. We can accommodate the pickiest of eaters and, depending on the destination, most participants with food allergies and dietary restrictions.

HOW DO WE TRAVEL?
We use many forms of travel to get where we need to go. Planes, boats, shuttles, vans, buses and foot travel are our primary ways of getting around on our summer trips.

WHAT WILL MY GROUP BE LIKE?
Each Wild Traveler group is made up of enthusiastic, positive, fun individuals (like yourself) ready for the experience of a lifetime. They come from all over the country, and in many cases, from around the world. Your group will be created with attention to age and a balance of gender in order to ensure the best possible individual and group experience. Your group will be led by two to three experienced and knowledgeable trip leaders. By the end of the program, you will have made 11 new best friends.

WHAT WILL OUR DAYS BE LIKE?
Each day has been scheduled with a variety fun and adventurous activities. These activities may include surfing, kayaking, hiking, SCUBA diving, backpacking, whitewater rafting and more. You can find day-to-day itineraries for each of our teen tours under the “itinerary” tab on each specific trip page.

ARE FLIGHTS INCLUDED?
Our international trips begin and end at Los Angeles International airport (LAX). Flights between LAX and our destination airport are included in the price of the trip. Our Hawaii & Kauai trips begin and end at Honolulu International airport (HNL). Flights between HNL and participants’ home airport are not included in the price of the trip.

HOW DO WE GET PICTURES?
After the trip, we will upload all pictures and video from the group cameras onto a shared Google Drive. Families will receive a link via email to the google drive where you can download all content.
