SUMMER TEEN TOURS
The Wild Traveler leads summer teen tours to threatened and rapidly changing places. Participants explore and learn about these places through a variety of activities. Some of these activities include, surfing, SCUBA diving, hiking, kayaking, and service projects. Our summer teen tours also give our participants a hands on way to learn about the areas natural history, human history, and culture. Participants gain a greater sense of responsibility, confidence, and independence on our programs.
Over the course of our 17 day Hawaii teen tour, we will visit 2 islands, The Big Island and Kauai. We’ll visit Volcanoes National Park, get SCUBA certified, learn how to surf, kayak down jungle rivers, hike the Na Pali Coast, and volunteer on a service project with a local non profit. While we are on the islands, we will also visit Hawaii’s best beaches, nicest waterfalls, as well as Hawaii’s most important historical landmarks – ancient temples, a “city of refuge”, the naha stone, and so much more! No experience required.
Three day sailing adventure on a 57 foot sailing yacht. Snorkel Maui’s best spots. Visit Haleakala National Park and hike into the Haleakala crater. We will camp atop the volcano in a quaint hut before heading back down. You haven’t seen the night sky until you see it from Haleakala. Travel back in time as we drive down the “road to Hana”. Hana offers a lush tropical landscape with breathtakingly beautiful waterfalls, swimming holes, and beaches of all colors. This trip can be added onto our Hawaii / Kauai summer teen tour.
We will travel up the California coast from Los Angeles to San Francisco stopping along the way in order to fully experience the California the way a wild traveler would. During our 12 day summer teen tour we will visit Channel Island’s National Park for hiking and backpacking, surfing the famous surf breaks of Ventura (the Wild Traveler’s home base) Santa Barbara, a tour of Hearst Castle, 3 day backpack in Big Sur, and a day exploring the sights in San Francisco!
Our Washington teen tour is short but spectacular. Begin your journey on a multi night backpack along the Pacific coast through Olympic National Park. From the coast we will take a quick stop in Forks, Washington for lunch before taking a Ferry to San Juan Islands for a multi-day kayaking adventure camping out each night on a different island. We will take a day to relax in Seattle before flying home.
