TEEN ADVENTURE TRAVEL

Trip logistics

We strive to make the registration process and pre-trip preparation as simple and as smooth as possible for our families. Our office staff will answer all of your questions every step of the way.

REGISTRATION
Give us a call, and we’ll discuss our trips. We’ll answer all of your questions and check availability. When you are ready to register, we will need a completed online application and an $800 deposit to save your child’s spot on our trip.

PRE-TRIP PREPARATION
Once registered, you’ll receive a link to the parent planning page of our website. You’ll find all necessary information to prepare. Parents and participants will also complete a short pre-trip questionnaire.

TRAVEL BETWEEN HOME AND ARRIVAL AIRPORT
Families are responsible for travel between home and our trip specific arrival and departure airports. All international trips begin and end at Los Angeles International Airport, unless other arrangements have been made. Our Hawaii & Kauai trips begin and end at Honolulu International Airport. We are happy to help find the best flight for your child.

ARRIVAL DAY
Wild Traveler trip leaders will meet each participant at their baggage claim immediately after arriving at the arrival airport. Our leaders will be wearing Wild Traveler T-shirts for easy identification. While we wait for all of our participants to arrive, we’ll play games and eat a delicious lunch. Once our group is all together, we will complete a gear check, making sure everyone came prepared with the necessary items from the trip pack list. We’ll set up camp at a nearby campground in the evening where we will learn various outdoor skills, including packing a pack, setting up tents, kitchen preparation, and more. After sharing our first dinner together, we will spend the rest of the evening playing games and getting to know each other.

COMMUNICATION
Our office is open 24 hours per day while our teen tours are in session. Our leaders check in with our office staff on a daily basis. Should you need to contact your son or daughter while they are on their trip, give our office a call and we will contact our leaders.

PHONE USE
Participants call home upon meeting their leaders at their arrival airport. Participants will have the opportunity to call their families midway through their trip. They will also call home on departure day after arriving at their departure airport. Phone calls are limited in order to enhance the outdoor experience and facilitate group interaction. The only other phone access will be in the case of an emergency. Participants may choose to send and receive letters through the United States Postal Service.

TRIP JOURNAL
Follow along with our summer teen adventure as it happens by logging into our trip log. Watch short video clips, look at pictures, and read about our adventure as it unfolds! Our trip log is updated every 2-3 days by our trip leaders.

DEPARTURE DAY
At the airport, everyone will have a chance to exchange email addresses and phone numbers and say their final “see you laters” with their new friends before departure. When it’s time, Wild Traveler leaders will help each participant check in at their airline’s ticket counter and accompany them to the security gate. For participants flying as unaccompanied minors, our Wild Traveler leaders will walk them to their gate.
